DORO Quit Her Job To Go On Tour With Judas Priest

She’s not only our eternal queen. She had the guts to do a thing most of us would never. She quit her job to go on tour with The Priest in a time nobody knew her and her band, Warlock.

Let our queen tell it:

“I was working as a graphic artist, but usually I was working for my band – doing all the posters and the logos.

“We played here and there a little bit, and one of my biggest days was [playing at] Monsters of Rock at Castle Donington in 1986. We did pretty good and shortly after that, we got this tour [offer] to support Judas Priest, which was my favorite band. I couldn’t believe it!

“I thought, ‘Man, I think there’s some magic going on.’ I could feel that. I had a couple of bands before Warlock, but with that lineup, we had a couple of records out and I thought, ‘Let’s just try it.’

“Then I went to my boss and I told him I wanna leave my job and go on tour and be a musician full-time. He said, ‘Girl, you’re crazy. Don’t do it, you will starve.’

“I thought, ‘Yeah, it’s OK, I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna do it because Judas Priest is the best, the biggest, bigger than you can imagine!’ He said, ‘What is it?’ I said, ‘It’s the biggest heavy metal band.’

“And heavy metal, at that time, it was very intense for diehard fans, but normal people had no idea what it means. So he said, ‘OK, I see I can’t keep you. Good luck, I wish you all the best.’ And he said, ‘Never come back here!’ And I said, ‘No, I promise.’

“And then we had this concert the next year and all my colleagues, my boss – they were in the first row. I looked at them and I said *gives thumbs up* ‘OK.’

“And we’re still… I went back to my old office and talked a little bit about it and everybody thought, ‘Man, you made the right decision. You did it.’

“And the Judas Priest tour, I must say, it was one of the greatest touring experiences because they were all so nice, they were all total gentlemen. They were very supportive and I was very lucky to tour with the best of the best.”
