Iranian band CONFESS members Nikan Siyanor Khosravi and Khosravi Arash Chemical Ilkhani, aged 23 and 21, were arrested this past November by the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution and are facing charges of advertising against the system, blasphemy, writing anti-religious lyrics and granting interviews to forbidden foreign radio stations, and running an illegal and underground band and record label promoting music considered to be Satanic. They made bail February  5th, paying the equivalent of $30,000 US.

They face a minimum six months to six years in prison. If found guilty of blasphemy they could be executed, all for playing in a metal band. It’s hard to be in an American band, but this makes it look like a cakewalk. If you think you know the struggle, try it in Iran where “the struggle is real”. I personally hope that these guys don’t become “martyrs of metal”, but I know that with songs like I’m Your God Now that it’s very possible that the blasphemy charge might stick.

Our friends at Metal Injection started a hashtag for you to show support for the band.
