METALLICA‘s iconic “Master of Puppets” sounded incredible on Dave Mustaine‘s signature Gibson guitar, as demonstrated by an 11-year-old guitarist.
Young prodigy Maya Neelakantan delivered a remarkable performance during the recent “America’s Got Talent” quarterfinals. The 11-year-old wowed the audience by playing METALLICA‘s “Master of Puppets” on a Gibson Dave Mustaine Flying V EXP with a striking silver metallic finish.
Supported by a full band, Maya electrified the stage. At one point, she switched an effect on her Neural DSP Quad Cortex, transforming her tone to mimic a sitar—a nod to her Tamil heritage.
“That was like Van Halen reincarnated,” Howie Mandel. “You’re amazing on that thing. And not only that, but you were mixing it in with your culture, like a sitar making it sound like a guitar, and your smile, it doesn’t end. You wouldn’t think it would come from you. You are a surprise. You’re amazing and I love you.”
Unfortunately, Maya‘s outstanding performance wasn’t enough to advance her to the next round of the competition.
