AC/DC have expanded their highly anticipated Australian tour with the addition of three new dates — but the good news was overshadowed by a wave of frustration from fans trying to score tickets for the Perth show.
The legendary rockers will now play a second night in Melbourne on November 16, an extra Sydney show on November 25, and a final Brisbane stop on December 18, bringing their total number of Aussie dates to eight. This marks the band’s first tour of Australia in nearly a decade.
While fans nationwide welcomed the new shows, thousands of West Australians were left furious on Thursday as Ticketek’s website struggled to handle the demand for AC/DC’s December 4 concert at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
According to PerthNow, many eager fans experienced serious glitches at checkout. After waiting patiently in the virtual queue, users reported being booted from the payment screen or having the site crash altogether.
“What a disaster!! I got in quite quickly, finally got decent tickets and was on the screen to pay and then (it) booted me to the back of the queue,” one frustrated fan posted on social media.
Another shared: “I finally got in, got my tickets went to pay and it wouldn’t go through for some stupid reason. I’m so angry.”
“I had tickets & site crashed just when I hit pay,” said a third.
