AC/DC Reportedly Set To Say Goodbye With Final Australian Tour

AC/DC Live 2025

AC/DC fans are bracing for what could be the biggest homecoming in Australian rock history, as speculation intensifies around the announcement of a long-awaited Australian leg of the band’s Power Up world tour.

According to Blunt Magazine, AC/DC are reportedly gearing up to return to their homeland later this year — and it might be for the final time. The latest rumors suggest the band could take over Melbourne’s iconic MCG for two massive shows on November 12 and 16, as tipped by a source on 3AW’s Rumour File. Additional reports from the Herald Sun indicate that industry insiders expect dates to land in late November or early December, though nothing has been confirmed by the band or their representatives.

The band’s official website remains silent on the matter, but behind the scenes, the buzz is growing louder. AC/DC are currently powering through the European leg of their tour, with stops in Berlin, Warsaw, Madrid, Gothenburg, Paris, and a grand finale set for Edinburgh in August. The North American leg wrapped earlier this year, boasting sold-out shows and thunderous setlists packed with fan favorites like “Thunderstruck,” “T.N.T.,” and “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

If the rumors hold true, this would mark AC/DC’s first shows on Australian soil since 2015’s Rock or Bust tour. That historic run featured Stevie Young stepping in for the late Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar and a brief return by drummer Phil Rudd before legal troubles led to further lineup shifts.

As of now, the current live lineup features Brian Johnson back at the mic, Angus Young in electrifying form, Stevie Young on rhythm guitar, Chris Chaney (JANE’S ADDICTION, Alanis Morissette) holding down the low end, and Matt Laug on drums. While some fans are still hoping for a symbolic return by Phil Rudd for the Aussie leg, there’s no official word on whether he’ll rejoin.

Whether this leg turns out to be a farewell tour or simply a long-awaited return, one thing is certain — an AC/DC stadium run in Australia carries monumental significance. The band formed in Sydney back in 1973, and a return home more than 50 years later would feel like a full-circle moment.

Rumors of a final Australian tour have circulated since early 2025, when the Herald Sun first floated the possibility of a stadium run to close out the year. Blunt Magazine followed suit, reporting that the tour would likely follow the band’s North American and European dates, with speculation pointing to major venues including the MCG, ANZ Stadium, Suncorp Stadium, Adelaide Oval, and Optus Stadium.
