Agnostic Front – Echoes In Eternity Review

Agnostic Front Echoes In Eternity

The Godfathers of New York Hardcore are back! — and they’ve never sounded more vital. Echoes in Eternity, released through the new label Raining Phoenix Music, is a blistering statement of purpose from a band that helped shape the genre itself. Across 15 tracks, Agnostic Front revisit every era of their legacy: the early, super-fast two-chord fury, the metallic crunch of Liberty and Justice, and even moments of melodic reflection — all without losing an ounce of authenticity.

The production is spot-on: clean but never overdone. Every element sits perfectly in the mix — the bass hits hard, the drums punch, and Roger Miret’s vocals sound better than ever. Credit goes to producer and guitarist Mike Diijan (known from NYHC outfits like Sai-NamLaws of Gravity, Crown of ThornzCold Front) who helped sculpt what he calls his “dream Agnostic Front record.” His influence is clear, giving the album a subtle groove while keeping it pure and aggressive.

Guitarist Craig Silverman also steps up, delivering sharp, expressive solos on tracks like “Tears for Everyone,” showing a new side of his playing that fits seamlessly into the band’s sound. Songs like “Divided” carry the band’s classic anti-fascist message, while “Sunday Matinee” taps into melodic nostalgia and CBGBs iconic matinees. And perhaps the biggest surprise: Run-D.M.C.’s Darryl “DMC” McDaniels lending guest vocals to “Matter of Life & Death” — an unexpected but powerful crossover that actually works. This coming from someone who has never been a fan of rap in hardcore.

After 16 months in the making, Echoes in Eternity stands as one of Agnostic Front’s strongest albums — possibly the defining record of their career. Decades after surviving the chaos of the 1980s and 90s, they continue to prove why they remain the unshakable Godfathers of New York Hardcore.

Echoes In Eternity is set for release on November 7 through Reigning Phoenix Music.
