ALICE IN CHAINS Covers BLACK SABBATH’s ‘Fairies Wear Boots’ At ‘Back To The Beginning’ Farewell Concert

ALICE IN CHAINS added their signature sludge and soul to BLACK SABBATH’s legendary catalog during the historic “Back To The Beginning” concert on July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK. The Seattle grunge icons delivered a rendition of “Fairies Wear Boots,” one of the standout tracks from SABBATH’s Paranoid album.

Curated by Tom Morello and hosted by Jason Momoa, the event featured a massive list of performers influenced by SABBATH, including SLAYER, METALLICA, GOJIRA, TOOL, LAMB OF GOD, and PANTERA, alongside special “supergroup” moments and surprise collaborations.

ALICE IN CHAINS were part of the late-afternoon slot, sandwiched between Supergroup A and GOJIRA, adding a grungy contrast to the day’s heavy thrash and groove metal offerings.

Though marketed as a livestream, the broadcast is being shown with a two-hour delay. Fans across the globe — especially in the U.S. — can tune in beginning at 10 a.m. ET / 7 a.m. PT.

Clips from ALICE IN CHAINS’ performance of “Fairies Wear Boots” are starting to appear online, and we’ll continue to update Metal Addicts with videos, photos, and fan reactions from this once-in-a-generation tribute to the gods of heavy metal.
