ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian expressed his gratitude to the Los Angeles Fire Department in a message shared on his social media, acknowledging their efforts amid the ongoing California wildfires.

He wrote in a post: “Sending all our love to the men and women of the @losangelesfiredepartment. Over and over you risk your lives to save ours and I can’t thank you enough.

“Tonight is going to be a hellish night for so many. Stay safe my friends, that’s all that matters.

“Thank you to everyone that has been reaching out – Pearl, Revel, Grizzly and I evacuated and we’re safe.”

Multiple wildfires are ravaging the Los Angeles area, leading to significant destruction and widespread evacuations. The most severe, the Pacific Palisades fire, has become one of the most destructive in the city’s history, fueled by fierce Santa Ana winds. This blaze has destroyed over 1,000 structures and resulted in at least two fatalities. Preliminary damage estimates range between $52 billion and $57 billion.

The fires have forced tens of thousands to evacuate, including high-profile residents like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, whose Montecito home is in a high fire risk zone.

Additionally, the blazes have led to school closures, power outages affecting hundreds of thousands, and the postponement of events such as the Critics Choice Awards.

In response to the crisis, California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency. President Biden has been briefed on the situation and discussed it with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. The causes of the fires are currently under investigation.
