Anti-Sapien – At the Mercy of the Merciless Review

I find the raw energy of albums as “At the Mercy of the Merciless” fun. I mean, it is so fun to hear albums like this because its energy kind of overwhelms the fan with its brute force. On the other hand, besides all this blunt force that comes from vocals there are very sharp and efficient guitars. The muscular structures guitar duo Nathan Rand and Blake Charlton weave sound at the same time a little bit flamboyant but hard as a rock. Pay close attention at the guitars of “Eater of Ghosts” to have a glimpse of what I am saying. It is an album that is at the same time made to singalong but to disgust at first at time. Controvertial as it can be.

By grand finale “George Washington’s Teeth” the fan will notice a sharp and dark humor that it is one of the facetes of Anti-Sapien, whose full of irony band name indicates how the members love mankind. Fine irony is one of the ingredients baked with the album. It is interesting how the band puts together an avalanche of sound plus the very aggressive vocal duo with some melodic guitar interventions. “D.E.A.D.” is a fine example of it. Tracks as first fire “Old Drugs” twist and perverts the idea of musical harmony in the known meaning of it. I have to say that this is really the idea of how Metal music must be.

At the Mercy of the Merciless” is a fun to hear. It teaches tons of lessons of how Metal music should be with lots of debauchery, contempt and disdain.

Anti-SapienAt the Mercy of the Merciless” will be released on January 16th via Terminus Hate City.
