Since its inception, Metal music has always been divided with two kinds of bands, and, therefore, their musicians. There are the shredders, the music whizzes, the astonishments. Bands that love to polish their music the most they can. The longer, the better. The more polished, the better. On the other hand, there is the opposite. Bands that like it raw. No polishments; the rawer, the better. In short, it’s one-two-three-four and blast. Metal music has been dealing with both through the years. However, by all the bands I’ve been receiving these days, I guess the first is winning by far. Metal musicians are playing better and better. No shadow of doubt about it. But, for our’s sakes, here comes Aspernamentum with “Primal Judgement Manifesto” that is a the lost prime art of writing an album with that raw spirit. Fun fact is that I guess that wasn’t the band’s intent because this EP has long tracks where the band tries its best to sound as polish as they can. The outcome is “Primal Judgement Manifesto,” a masterpiece of the lost art of making music without many musical resources. Or, the spirit of Metal.
Long are gone the times when bands and musicians had to struggle to record the perfect drumming tempo, the perfect vocal pitch, the perfect guitar effects. Any small studio today in this sad and lonely and pathetic little planet has the resources to record a perfect album. Even at home it’s possible to make very decent recordings. We had many albums here that were recorded digitally at home. “Primal Judgement Manifesto” did its best to sound as raw – or as polished – as possible. By the guitar picks from the beginning it’s possible to notice there is some naivety looking for the most simple solutions. From album opener “Epiphanies of the Night’s Light” to grand finale “Of Condemnation, Death and the Holy Ghost” the fan will notice guitar solutions that are far from the most polished, but they fit perfectly to the intent. That’s the spirit of Metal. The relentless drumming also is a hint of this. But, gosh, doesn’t it sound perfect the way it is? I do think so.
Aspernamentum “Primal Judgement Manifesto” will be released on May 17th via Soulseller Records.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
