In a noteworthy crossover within the alternative metal world, Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz — best known as the frontman of BAD WOLVES — has officially joined FALLING IN REVERSE as their live bassist and backing vocalist. Laskiewicz made his live debut with the band over the weekend during their sets at Germany’s massive Rock am Ring and Rock im Park festivals, marking a significant new chapter in both his career and the current lineup of FALLING IN REVERSE.
Taking to Instagram after his second show with the band, Laskiewicz shared his awe over the experience, writing: “Most intense show I’ve ever played. 90,000 heads, my 2ND show with FIR. Insane… I’m speechless. Forever Grateful.”
While there has been no official statement from FALLING IN REVERSE regarding the status of their previous bassist, Tyler Burgess, fans were quick to notice his apparent exit. Burgess unfollowed both the band and its polarizing frontman Ronnie Radke on social media roughly a month ago, fueling speculation that he is no longer involved with the group.
Though this collaboration may seem sudden, it likely didn’t come out of nowhere for followers of Laskiewicz’s personal journey. Back in February, he posted a candid message reflecting on a moment of vulnerability during a previous tour with FALLING IN REVERSE and PAPA ROACH. Laskiewicz recalled feeling low after a rough performance and credited Radke for stepping in with unexpected support.
“I had a really sh**ty show one night on the FALLING IN REVERSE/ PAPA ROACH tour and was feeling dumb low. Wanted to ‘quit’ music honestly. Ronnie sat with me after our set, listened and was super kind. Dude was understanding, supportive, gave me advice and hit me with exactly what I needed to hear. Straight up coach Radke moment… It had to do with some heckling POS, and Ronnie jokingly (or not lol) was down to go fight this dude. I’ll never forget that.”
Laskiewicz’s involvement with FALLING IN REVERSE comes at a time of considerable turnover within BAD WOLVES. In April, the band announced the departure of guitarist Doc Coyle and longtime bassist Kyle Konkiel. Meanwhile, original guitarist Chris Cain rejoined the lineup, and Kevin Creekman — who also plays in Tommy Vext’s solo project — was brought in as the new bassist.
The shake-up arrives amid cryptic teasers from former BAD WOLVES vocalist Tommy Vext, who recently hinted at a dramatic return to the spotlight, calling it “the craziest comeback story in the industry’s history.” Given Creekman’s dual role in Vext’s solo efforts and the current BAD WOLVES lineup, the band’s internal dynamics appear to be in flux.
Prior to fronting BAD WOLVES, Laskiewicz was well-known in the metalcore scene for his guitar work with THE ACACIA STRAIN.
