GREEN DAY’s BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG Confronts Fan Over Water Gun Incident At Hurricane Festival (Video)

Billie Joe Armstrong Fan With A Water Gun

The ongoing issue of concert etiquette took a bizarre turn over the weekend, as GREEN DAY frontman Billie Joe Armstrong was forced to stop mid-performance after being repeatedly squirted in the face with a water gun.

The incident occurred on Sunday, June 22, during GREEN DAY’s set at Germany’s Hurricane Festival. While performing the fan-favorite epic “Jesus Of Suburbia,” Armstrong appeared increasingly annoyed as someone in the crowd persistently targeted him with a squirt gun.

Fan-shot footage shared online the following day shows Armstrong eventually removing his guitar and walking closer to the front of the stage to confront the perpetrator directly. Though he wasn’t speaking into the microphone, cameras captured the visibly frustrated frontman seemingly saying, “I’ll beat your a**,” and, “Do you understand me?”

Armstrong recently made headlines for altering a lyric in “Jesus Of Suburbia,” changing it to: “Running away from pain like the kids from Palestine.” The lyrical change arrives amid the ongoing and highly sensitive conflict between Israel and Palestine, which escalated following the October 2023 attack by Hamas militants at the Tribe of Nova music festival — an assault that left over 400 people dead and more than 40 kidnapped, including former DESOLATED bassist Jake Marlowe.
