Bob Daisley, the veteran rock/metal bassist and songwriter who contributed to and co-wrote much of Ozzy Osbourne‘s early solo work, recently discussed his exclusion from Ozzy‘s final concert. In an interview with Indie Power TV, Daisley addressed the fact that he wasn’t invited to the Birmingham, UK show on July 5.
The original BLACK SABBATH lineup—Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward—will headline a one-day festival at Villa Park. The festival will also feature performances from several bands they influenced, such as such as METALLICA, PANTERA, SLAYER, GOJIRA, and ANTHRAX.
“To be honest with you, I don’t think I’d wanna be a part of that that day,” Bob told Indie Power TV. “It’ll be awkward, but it could turn out as an embarrassment as well, but we’ll see. We’ll see.”
Daisley also discussed being overlooked during Osbourne‘s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction last October.
“I didn’t expect [to get a mention],” Daisley said. “I knew that was coming, because there’s been some dirty water gone under the bridge between us — there’s been lawsuits and legal issues and that — so I was not surprised when I didn’t get a mention. Many people thought that it was wrong and that I should have got a mention. But I really didn’t expect it, so I wasn’t surprised.”
The proceeds from the event will benefit Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice, a hospice for children supported by Aston Villa.
Ozzy Osbourne, who has postponed his “No More Tours 2” shows several times due to illness, the pandemic, and logistical issues, and who paused touring in 2023 after spinal surgery, will perform his last concert ever at Villa Park, according to Sharon.
“Ozzy didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to his friends, to his fans, and he feels there’s no been no full stop,” she said. “This is his full stop.”
“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning, time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Ozzy said in a statement. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love.
