Here we’ve got one of the new bands I cherish a lot. It’s no news I appreciated a lot every album I had the honor and opportunity to review. Brothers of Metal’s unique blend of Power Metal with Epic Old School Heavy Metal plus the combination of female and male vocals got me by the guts, I have to say. In fact, the band is a hodgepodge of Metal music features blending them into their music. Maybe, this is the one thing that makes them so exciting and fresh to my ears. Blending Metal into Metal has been one very useful and valuable resource bands have been using for a long time. The might 2019’s “Emblas Saga,” plus their debut to madness 2018’s “Prophecy of Ragnarök” were albums I had an immense pleasure to listen and review.
As Brothers of Metal have a strong prone to the grand and epic, “Fimbulvinter” commences with “Sowilo” working as an intro and as a track with grand symphonic instrumentals. From the start the band leaves no doubt about their great intent of being great. The vocal duet Ylva Eriksson and Joakim Lindbäck Eriksson work fine here as usual. The contrast of their voices embellishes the songs a lot. With “Fimbulvinter,” truth be told, we are sure Brothers of Metal flirt every time with gluey choruses and melodies being on the verve of that Heavy Pop – I know nobody uses this term anymore, but whatever – made famous in the 1980’s, however, with a very strong hand. “Heavy Metal Viking” proves me right. Just check it out. Being a true blend of Metal music, the album has also a shinning place for a sweet ballad like “Nanna’s Fate” where the tender instrumentals of an acoustic guitar soon leaves the scene to that strong flirt with the aforementioned Heavy Pop, but very well done I have to say. Grand finale is with tittle track “Fimbulvinter” with its epic features mixed with some Symphonic Metal as the band loves to do. It’s a great goodbye to an album known for its blends.
“Fimbulvinter” is a continuation of Brothers of Metal tradition of blending all Metal music features into their music. The album proves it’s still valid to update Old School Heavy Metal bringing into it new features. Simply, that’s what Brothers of Metal do. With flying colors, if you know what I mean. I just love it.
Brothers of Metal “Fimbulvinter” will be released on November 01st via AFM Records.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
