During his solo set at the Release Festival in Athens on July 21st, IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson treated the crowd to a special performance.
After finishing his regular set with “Road To Hell,” Dickinson donned an Alexander the Great helmet and launched into the iconic IRON MAIDEN song.
He told the crowd: “We couldn’t go tonight knowing that we’ve never done this ever in Greece. ‘Cause I know that you like this guy. And so I brought a special hat. And I thought you might like to do a little bit of singing, just for a couple of minutes, just at the end.”
IRON MAIDEN debuted their song “Alexander The Great” live for the first time on their “The Future Past Tour” which kicked off on May 28, 2023 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Interestingly, the tour itinerary didn’t include any shows in Greece, despite the song’s focus on the Macedonian conqueror Alexander the Great. The lyrics tell the story of his life, including his victories over the Persian king Darius and the legendary cutting of the Gordian Knot, all the way to his death in Babylon.
Dickinson released his latest solo album, The Mandrake Project, on March 1 via BMG. Alongside the album, Bruce also announced an exciting collaboration with Z2 for an upcoming comic series. To the delight of the international comic community, 2,000 exclusive versions of the comic were unveiled at CCXP, adding to the excitement surrounding this extraordinary project.
