The highly anticipated “Poisoned Ascendancy Tour,” co-headlined by BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE and TRIVIUM, appears to have hit a wall. What was originally promoted as a globe-spanning celebration of two landmark metal albums — BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE’s The Poison and TRIVIUM’s Ascendancy — will now come to an unexpected halt following the nearly completed North American leg.
Fans across Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan who were eager to catch this once-in-a-generation pairing are now out of luck. According to recent developments, the remaining international dates have been quietly scrapped, and the partnership between the two metal powerhouses appears to have soured behind the scenes.
The tour, announced with much fanfare last year at a joint press conference, was initially set to run throughout all of 2025, with both bands commemorating the 20th anniversaries of their respective breakthrough albums. Things seemed to be on track following successful UK and European legs earlier this year. But now, with only a few U.S. dates left, the collaboration is ending much earlier than expected.
While no official joint statement has been made, some light has been shed on the situation thanks to a recent livestream by TRIVIUM bassist and co-vocalist Paolo Gregoletto. When asked about the abrupt end to the tour, Gregoletto didn’t mince words.
“Matt Tuck [BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman] didn’t want to do it, after we had planned it, after stuff was already in the works — don’t know why,” Paolo said (as transcribed by ThePRP). “I think it would have been amazing… I think the two records pair very well together. And I think it would have been nice to give everyone around the world a chance to see the two together.”
TRIVIUM also alluded to the unexpected end of the tour — and the underlying discord — in a subtly worded Facebook post. They wrote yesterday (May 11): “As we bring ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour’ to an end, with just 4 SHOWS LEFT, make sure you don’t miss your chance to come out and celebrate this 20 year anniversary with us!”
As of now, only four shows remain on what has become the final North American leg of the tour, with AUGUST BURNS RED and BLEED FROM WITHIN serving as support acts.
