COLDPLAY were performing in Melbourne during their “Music of the Spheres” tour when, after finishing “Everglow,” Chris Martin stepped back while speaking to the audience and accidentally fell through a trap door. Although a crew member managed to catch him as he fell, the frontman was visibly shaken by the incident.
A video captured by a fan shows the singer stepping backward before disappearing into the stage.
“That’s not planned,” he said before addressing the member of the crew and saying, “Thank you for catching me so much.”
“Holy s**t, that was nearly a YouTube moment,” he continued, “well it probably will be a YouTube moment but not a great one. I don’t know who caught me but thank you so much. Wow, I did not know that hole was there.”
