Dani Filth has revealed that CRADLE OF FILTH are nearing the end of the writing process for their next studio album, the follow-up to 2025’s The Screaming Of The Valkyries.
Speaking in a new interview with Australia’s Heavy, the frontman reflected on the fan response to the band’s fourteenth studio effort, which arrived in March 2025 through Napalm Records. According to Dani, the reaction has exceeded expectations and helped fuel the creative momentum the band has experienced in recent years.
“Yeah. Above and beyond. The Screaming Of The Valkyries, it’s really charted high. The fans love it. It’s the next step up in our evolutionary step. The next record, which, obviously, we’re writing at the moment — [we’re] almost finished writing; [we’re] gonna be in the studio in about three weeks — again takes that to the next level,” he said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth).
The vocalist also spoke about how the years following the pandemic have been particularly productive for the band, both on the road and in the studio.
“We’ve had a fantastic few years. Post lockdown, obviously there’s been a lot of catching up to do. This is why we’ve been touring a lot, why we’ve been very creative. Yeah, I think we’re definitely walking into the right direction. The fans seem to like it, and that sort of matters.”
When asked whether the “old-school sounds and vibes” that shaped The Screaming Of The Valkyries would carry over into the next album, Dani explained that the band is still in the early stages of determining the final direction of the material.
“Well, yeah, we’ve moved the goalposts in all kinds of directions,” he said. “It’s very hard to stipulate exactly what we’re doing. And, really, to be honest, it’s too early to be talking about our new album. We haven’t even decided — we’ve got a huge amount of tracks and we haven’t even decided which ones are going on the record as yet. That’s up to me and the producer. Next week he’s gonna come and visit my house and we’re gonna siphon through everything and decide what’s a keeper and what isn’t, what might need development. So, yeah, again, very early to talk about it.”
Released in March 2025, The Screaming Of The Valkyries was produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Scott Atkins at Grindstone Studios.
The filing additionally includes a defamation claim against Dani Filth and states that the disputed merchandise remained on sale even after objections were raised. As of now, no court date has been scheduled, and the defendants have yet to file an official response.
Meanwhile, the band has also been dealing with a legal matter that emerged later in the year. In November 2025, six former members filed a joint lawsuit against CRADLE OF FILTH, its business entities, and Dani Filth. The complaint alleges that the band continued to use the ex-members’ likenesses and recorded performances in merchandise, vinyl reissues, promotional materials, and meet-and-greet offerings without authorization or compensation.
