Shifty Shellshock, the lead singer of the nu-metal band CRAZY TONW has passed away at the age of 49.

Newsweek reports that Seth Binzer, his real name, died at his home on Monday (June 24th). The cause of his death has not been revealed.

Shellshock co-founded CRAZY TOWN, the band that launched their debut album, The Gift of Game, in November 1999. Shortly thereafter, they toured with the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.

In October 2000, CRAZY TOWN released “Butterfly,” the album’s third single, which track soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the band’s most successful and iconic song to date.

Apart from his time in CRAZY TOWN, Shellshock found success collaborating with British producer Paul Oakenfold, notably on the hit track “Starry Eyed Surprise.”

Throughout his career, the singer battled drug addiction, a struggle that led him to appear on various reality shows such as Celebrity Rehab 1 and 2, as well as Sober House 1 and 2, in efforts to address his challenges with substance abuse.

Shellshock also encountered legal troubles, including a 2012 conviction that resulted in three years of probation for charges of battery and possession of cr*ck c*caine.
