Dani Filth recently made an unexpected revelation during an interview with Metal Hammer, sharing a unique detail about his mother’s funeral wishes. CRADLE OF FILTH frontman revealed that his mother has specifically requested the band’s 2004 hit single “Nymphetamine” to be played as she is laid to rest.
“My mum wants it played at her funeral,” Filth said. He then added, “Apparently so. But she’ll be dead, so we can change the tracklisting.”
The dark and romantic “Nymphetamine” remains a cornerstone of CRADLE OF FILTH‘s discography. Released as the lead single from their 2004 album of the same name, it’s a live staple and their second-most performed song, trailing only the beloved “Her Ghost In The Fog.”
This isn’t the first humorous story Filth has shared about his mom. In an interview with Metal Hammer last year, the singer mentioned that she has a crush on SLAYER frontman Tom Araya.
“I don’t know [what the appeal is]. I don’t see it myself,” he said. “I just know she does because I see Instagram accounts like ‘Tom Araya lovers’ and the first name I see is my mum’s.”
