Last weekend, Hurricane Helene disrupted the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, KY. Due to strong winds, organizers had to cancel the Friday, September 27th show. This was especially disappointing for SLAYER fans, as that night was set to serve as the second of three reunion performances from the newly reunited thrash metal legends.
Danny Wimmer Presents, the festival’s promoter, is offering ticketholders for the canceled show or four-day pass holders a chance to see SLAYER‘s final performance of the year. However, there are certain conditions attached to this offer.
The catch is that you’ll need to head to Sacramento, CA, for another Danny Wimmer Presents festival, Aftershock, on October 10th, where SLAYER is set to headline and close out the night.
Here is the entire statement from Danny Wimmer Presents: “Missed SLAYER at Louder Than Life? We’re heartbroken too. But we’ve got something special for all Friday and 4-Day Louder Than Life pass holders: an exclusive chance to see Slayer at Aftershock in Sacramento on Oct 10! Check your email for details on how to RSVP!
“Please note that this isn’t the only thing we’re working on for you, to make up for Friday’s cancelation at Louder Than Life. Accepting this offer will not disqualify you from additional compensation. Stay tuned for more information later this week. Thank you for your continued patience and support!”
In a recent interview with Metal Injection, SLAYER guitarist Kerry King said that he doesn’t rule out the possibility of more SLAYER shows in the future beyond the three festival appearances scheduled for this summer and fall.
“I’m trying to be real and definitely say, hey, we’re not gonna tour again,” he said. “And we’re certainly not gonna record again, ’cause I have a means of doing that now with my band. [We’re doing] three shows for now. And I say ‘for now’ because I know Europe’s gonna come knocking, ‘Hey, man, you guys played America. Come see us.’ So it wouldn’t surprise me if something like that happened, but it’s certainly not on my books right now.”
