DISTURBED frontman David Draiman has publicly pushed back against criticism from fellow musician Jack White regarding Donald Trump’s recent military action in Iran, offering the former WHITE STRIPES singer an “open invitation” to discuss the issue.
Over the weekend, the United States, alongside Israel, launched a series of aerial strikes on Iran in what the Trump administration described as an effort to counter a security threat and push for regime change. Trump dubbed the campaign “Operation Epic Fury” and argued it aimed to protect U.S. interests, even as questions emerged about the legality and strategic implications of the offensive.
Jack White, known for his outspoken views and longstanding criticism of Trump, took to social media to condemn the U.S. action, writing critically about the president’s approach to the conflict and the human cost of war.
“Venezuela, Greenland, Iran, Cuba, what’s the difference right? Don jr. and barron won’t have to fight or die, just other people’s children, so…invade and bomb away,” he wrote.
In response, Draiman posted his own message on Instagram defending the military campaign and reaffirming his view of the Iranian people’s right to freedom. He wrote: “No matter what you may think of other things done by this administration, the campaign to #FreeIran isn’t something you, or anyone for that matter, should be taking issue with. The Iranian people deserve their freedom.”
Draiman then addressed White directly, offering a respectful opportunity to engage further: “I say this with the UTMOST respect. I think you’re an absolutely brilliant artist… I’d love to have the opportunity to talk with you, not debate, about it, anywhere you like, in private, or public, whichever you prefer. Open invitation.”
