Dino Cazares has shared a heartfelt message following the tragic death of a fan who was killed in a horrific three-vehicle collision after attending FEAR FACTORY’s concert in Sydney, Australia.
The devastating accident occurred late on Friday night, May 22, shortly after 28-year-old Seamus Duignan attended the band’s show to celebrate his birthday. According to reports from News.com.au, Duignan had hired an Uber to travel home following the concert when the blue Toyota Camry he was riding in was struck by an Audi that had allegedly crossed into the wrong lane on Rocky Point Road in Sans Souci.
The violent crash claimed the lives of Duignan, the Uber driver, and the driver of the Audi at the scene.
After learning of the tragedy, Cazares took to the band’s official social media channels to post a video statement expressing his sorrow over the incident.
“We were deeply saddened to hear about the tragic accident involving one of the fans who attended our Sydney show. Our thoughts and condolences go out to their family, friends, and everyone affected by this loss.”
“We’re grateful to everyone who comes out to support FEAR FACTORY around the world, and we simply want to remind everyone to travel safely and look out for one another on the road home.”
“Much respect and sympathy from all of us in FEAR FACTORY.”
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police allege that the 42-year-old Audi driver, identified as Tamati Gilbert, had been visited by officers at his Gymea Bay residence for a welfare check roughly 10 minutes before the fatal collision occurred. Following the interaction, the driver reportedly sped away from the home before losing control of the vehicle.
Investigators say the Audi smashed through a concrete barrier, flipped, and landed on top of the oncoming Toyota Camry in what Detective Acting Superintendent Graham Hibbs described as a “horrific scene.”
Police are reportedly examining whether excessive speed, as well as the possible involvement of drugs or alcohol, contributed to the deadly crash.
As news of the tragedy spread, Seamus Duignan’s family shared emotional tributes while also calling for a full investigation into the incident.
His brother, Sean Duignan, wrote in a public message: “Absolutely devastating news rest easy little brother can’t believe your (sic) gone life isn’t fair. Love you forever sea mouse.”
Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, Kim Duignan, spoke to the Saturday Telegraph and urged authorities to conduct a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
“There needs to be a complete inquest into what caused this crash,” she said. “I don’t want any other parent to have to go through this.”
