Dold Vorde Ens Navn – what a big name – in “Gjengangere I Hjertets Morke” do an interesting mix with Extreme Metal, hardcore, and some vaudeville – by the way, this kind of vaudeville is geting more an more common among Metal bands. Not only by the exotic language they sing – the album is in norwegian -, but also by the odd and imposed somewhat theatrical vocals imposed to songs, “Gjengangere I Hjertets Morke” gets out of the box. First thing that comes to the eye are the imposed, and sometimes debauched vocals, making use of a classical technique of singing, but subverting it completely.
Dold Vorde Ens Navn features Håvard Jørgensen, a former and founding member of Satyricon who leads the band to those uncanny way. It’s not really a surprise an album with all those sonances because Satyricon had their part in renewing Black Metal. Okay, their contribution is controvertial, but still had a leading part in it. “Gjengangere I Hjertets Morke” has at its side not being monolithical. As an EP with only four tracks, and not too long, there are lots of moods in it from fingered classical acoustic guitars to frenetic and high-octaned guitar riffing as if they were a Thrash Metal band. Check the first track “Den Ensomme Dod” and the last “Blodets Hvisken” to taste some Metallicaesque riffing. “Gjengangere I Hjertets Morke” has many plot twist and they are what give the unlike taste of it.
I won’t say that it wasn’t a pleasure to listen to “Gjengangere I Hjertets Morke” because it was really fun though the sometimes odd paths Dold Vorde Ens Navn took. There are times we like to be surprised and “Gjengangere I Hjertets Morke” does it very well first of because if you listen only to the first track “Den Ensomme Dod” you will have a completely different idea of the album. Those are plot twists I’m talking about. “Den Ensomme Dod” has even those crispy Thrash Metal guitars. But soon, in the following track “Drukkenskapens Kirkegard” everything changes. The vocals I talked about appear. To be frank, they appeared a little in the end of “Den Ensomme Dod,” but in a small dose. Punkish guitars riffs in the end of it calls the eye too. It’s a pity they left these behind. Those riffing make a great and powerful effect.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
