James LaBrie, the iconic vocalist of progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER, experienced an unexpected moment during the band’s performance at the Sweden Rock Festival on Thursday night (June 5) in Sölvesborg, Sweden. While delivering the opening number, “Night Terror”, LaBrie slipped and fell mid-performance — an incident that was captured in fan-filmed footage, including one video by Rossi of Agonyzone magazine.
Despite the fall, LaBrie quickly bounced back, raising his arm in a reassuring gesture to the crowd, signaling that he was uninjured and ready to continue. The slip occurred just minutes into the set, but it didn’t slow the band down.
The Sweden Rock appearance was part of DREAM THEATER’s 40th Anniversary European Tour, which kicked off two nights earlier (June 3) in Turku, Finland. The tour marks a significant milestone in the band’s storied career, and fans across Europe have been turning out in force to celebrate the return of drummer Mike Portnoy, who rejoined the lineup for the band’s 2025 studio album, Parasomnia.
The momentum will carry into the U.S. this fall, as DREAM THEATER prepares to launch its “An Evening With Dream Theater” tour. Beginning September 5 in Reading, Pennsylvania, the North American trek will hit 30 cities, including major stops in Orlando, Detroit, Kansas City, and Providence, before wrapping up on October 25 in Long Island, New York.
Fans can expect full performances of Parasomnia—the band’s sixteenth studio album, which topped charts upon its release on February 7, 2025, via InsideOut Music—along with a selection of classic tracks and fan favorites spanning their four-decade career.
