Yeah, that’s right. That’s exactly what you, my dear child of night, are reading. Here are the details.
The case happened in 2015 in Hasslehölm, Sweeden. Francisco Trujillo, a Law professor of Universidat Jaume I Castellón, was the one who posted it at his Linkdin profile. The decision was considered a peculiar milestone to Swedish law and Metal music world.
Roger Tullgren, a 41 years old Metal fan, had to fight for his right to be a Metal music fan full time. He sued the Swedish governament to get the right to receive a monthly pension for being a Metal addict. His allegation was that his addiction to Metal music made him unable to work full time or even maintain a steady job. In 2006, for instance, he attended to more than 300 gigs. Moreover, our common outfits – you know, denim and lether and spikes – were also considered a barrier for Tullgren’s employers what made it impossible for him to keep the jobs.
Along the years, Tullgren attended to many psychologist appointments to try to treat, or even explain, his addiction. The outcome was a report assuring he wasn’t able to work under the circunstances and he would need a special kind of retirement to support his condition. So, Hasslehölm Court determined a €400 monthly pension to complement his total incomes. The Court also determined he could keep a part-time job.
Besides the monthly pension, Tullgren got a job where he could listen to Metal music during work hours except when there would be clients and use all his Metal outfits with no loss of any kind.
I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
