This July, Norwegian extreme metal legends ENSLAVED return to the festival, while progressive black metal stalwarts BORKNAGAR make their exclusive U.S. appearance. YOB brings their cosmic doom to Montana, and GALLOWBRAID makes their U.S. live debut with haunting black folk metal. Also joining the lineup are Japanese experimental extreme metal pioneers SIGN, America’s premier Western black metal band WAYFARER, Denver-based slowcore multi-instrumentalist MIDWIFE, Western noir outfit TARANTELLA, Montana progressive blackened doom quartet GALVANIST, and New Mexico indigenous black metal trio NOCTURNE.

This first wave offers a taste of the festival’s powerhouse lineup, with headliners still to be announced.

Fire in the Mountains 2026 takes place July 23–26, 2026 at Red Eagle Campground in East Glacier, Montana. First-wave tickets are now on sale, including festival passes, VIP packages, camping options, BBQ tickets, and parking. Festival passes include access to all music performances, workshops and panels presented by Firekeeper Alliance, the Fire in the Mountains Marketplace, lake activities such as swimming and kayaking, and much more. All ticket holders are also invited to participate in the Grand Entry, hosted by the Blackfeet Nation on Thursday, July 23.

An immersive open-air event, Fire in the Mountains merges heavy music with natural landscapes and Indigenous cultural experiences. As the only alcohol-free heavy music festival in North America, FITM is committed to addressing suicide prevention in Indian Country, raising awareness of this critical issue, and fostering a supportive community dedicated to change.

Set against the remote wilderness bordering Glacier National Park—an area the Blackfeet call “The Backbone of the World”—FITM combines music, art, and education to create an unparalleled experience. The festival’s unique approach has earned international recognition as one of North America’s most original, meaningful, and talked-about heavy music events.
