Having been thrust into the music industry at barely 14 years of age, Alexa Melo has remained true to her artistic vision without pause, including opting out of a major label record deal with Interscope Records who had attempted to mold her with a more mainstream narrative. Alexa’s dedication and perseverance allowed her to pursue an independent route, releasing her self-titled debut LP which garnered a massive online following including over 2 million views on YouTube and over 50k followers.
Unfortunately, shortly after her rising success, Alexa was forced to go on a short hiatus due to an emergency vocal surgery and recovery period. Back with a renewed sense of passion and vulnerability, Alexa will release her aptly-titled sophomore EP, “Mute”, on October 12. This time around, as the sole writer, producer, and instrumentalist, her passion and originality shines through in an even more avant-garde way. The EP’s debut single, “Dope Sick”, was coined as “grunge-pop” by PopDust, who premiered the intense and macabre music video.
Alexa is excited to share a new track and accompanying music video for the EP’s first track, “Loyalty“, which she wrote about self-realization of losing oneself in a relationship. Check out the new single below.
