Fans Urge AC/DC To Retire After Viral Concert Footage

AC/DC Live 2025

A viral video clip from AC/DC’s recent U.S. tour stop has ignited a fierce debate online, with some fans now calling for the legendary rock band to bow out gracefully.

The footage, filmed at the band’s May 4 performance at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, has racked up thousands of views on TikTok. In it, guitarist Angus Young — clad in his signature schoolboy getup, this time an unbuttoned white shirt and blue velvet shorts — can be seen energetically shouting into the mic. However, as the clip continues, frontman Brian Johnson’s vocals appear to be drowned out by the crowd, prompting a wave of critical comments.

“I was going to get tickets until I saw this,” one disheartened viewer wrote. Another added, “I really wanted to see them this year… now I don’t, thank you for this.”

Others were even harsher in their take: “This is so painful. They just need to stop.” Another disappointed fan remarked, “Gotta say, Angus is really pulling the load on this tour. They’ll always be my favourite band by far, but I’m sitting out this tour.”

With hundreds of similar comments, many fans have called on the iconic band to “retire” and “preserve their legacy” instead of continuing to perform at what they see as a diminished level.

Still, not everyone agrees with that sentiment.

Supporters of the band rushed to their defense, reminding critics that AC/DC have been rocking stages for over five decades and that some decline is inevitable. “It’s an old band, of course they’re not going to be the same,” one fan wrote. “Y’all don’t have to say for them to stop doing what they like.”

“Let them do what they want!” another chimed in. “I’ll still go watch them to say I’ve seen them one final time.”

AC/DC Announces Long-Awaited Return to Australia
