HIGH PARASITE have unveiled a brand new single, “Drag Me Under,” offering fans a fresh glimpse into the band’s evolving sound as they look ahead to their next chapter.
The track, led by former Aaron Stainthorpe, wasn’t always meant to arrive as a standalone release. In fact, it was originally recorded during the sessions for the band’s 2024 debut album Forever We Burn, but ultimately left off the final tracklist.
Speaking about the decision, bassist/vocalist Danny “Tombs” Lambert explained: “We all loved this song when we recorded it for our first album, but it was a little different to the other tracks, with more of a RAMMSTEIN kind of vibe. So we decided to hold it back… until this moment. We’ve already started recording our second studio album. We’re looking to the future, so now ‘Drag Me Under’ makes perfect sense, a glimpse into what’s to come.”
That industrial-leaning edge Lambert mentions adds a new dimension to HIGH PARASITE’s already genre-blending identity, which fuses metal, gothic rock, and dark synth-pop into a brooding, emotionally charged sound.
The release of “Drag Me Under” also coincides with a key moment for the band on the live front. HIGH PARASITE are set to headline their first-ever London show tonight at The Lexington, marking a milestone as their current tour rolls through Europe. The run has already included multiple stops in Ireland, with additional dates scheduled across the Netherlands and France.
Produced by Gregor Mackintosh of PARADISE LOST, Forever We Burn introduced listeners to the band’s distinct sonic palette, anchored by Stainthorpe’s unmistakable voice and a darker, modern production approach.
Last October, MY DYING BRIDE officially parted ways with Stainthorpe. The news came less than a year after the band recruited Mikko Kotamäki of SWALLOW THE SUN to front their live appearances in 2025.
HIGH PARASITE lineup:
