It has been a while I do not listen to a Symphonic Metal band with so much punch. I was really surprised by first blood and tittle track “Fear,” a track that features the one and only Moonspell’s Fernando Ribeiro. He comes back with the cinematic and full of groove, as a matter of saying, “In Debris” where vocalist Eduarda Soeiro shows all the power of her voice and the fan feels the power of the guitars as well. The terror movie atmosphere of the track gives it the cinematic taste.
The presence of Moonspell’s Fernando Ribeiro itself would be a sign that the band is really good, but “Fear” goes really beyond all expectations mainly due to the unexpected punch Glasya deliver. This hard grip is the thing that captivates the fan the most. Between you and me, this kind of grip is the thing that lacks in many Symphonic Metal bands. The guitars of “Glimpse Of Memory,” featuring vocalist Michele Guaitoli, helps me explaining this grip better. The mesmerizing, and kind of wicked, keyboards give it a special flavor. By the way, as we are talking about the keyboards here, I have to say that with Glasya they perform the very interesting role of complementing the heavyness of the guitars, and, besides that, giving the songs a different touch. The cinematic touch is reinforced by the speeches in the beginning of some tracks as “In A Flooding Room” or “Rescue” where the bass takes the lead and give the tone.
It is interesting to observe how Glasya, track after track, but mostly with “The Cold Of Dark,” keep their Symphonic Metal identity besides giving it a very dark and powerful take. Even keeping all the features of its subgenre, the band managed a way of standing out of the crowed delivering the fan something else as “Rescue” did, for instance. As I said before, the keyboards are responsible for bringing into their music more punch and, besides, the effects the band needed to compement their songs. They are there to give the band’s music more than the expected. The album closes with the sweet and heartwarming “No Teu Abrigo” that reminds the fan we are talking about a Symphonic Metal band, but with a great differential.
Glasya “Fear” was released on October 24th via Scarlet Records.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
