Could you, my dear fan, imagine a Motöhead with harsher vocals with the fast and direct punch of Black Metal plus its modern features? Have you ever wondered how would it be? Well, I have it right now. It is Graveripper with “From Welkin to Tundra.” Graveripper managed a way to homage Motöhead, mix it with Black Metal and, still, upgrade it with many modern features. The outcome is a music that is able to make the fan headbang all day long and, at the same time, to not miss other Extreme Metal acts.
At first sight, Graveripper‘s music might sound Thrash Metal, and, by the way, most of the guitars’ structures are taken from Thrash Metal; however, the way the band performs it melting other techniques from Modern Black Metal make it extreme modern. As I always say the devil is the details, and the details are the ones that make “From Welkin to Tundra” so special. The band’s special blend sometimes goes to other directions, for instance, “…And Now It’s Dark“ addresses a lot to At War, but for what’s worth, At War are a band that were extremely inspired on Motöhead. Sometimes, the music here is fast and sharp as in “Bullet Laden Crown” with a thematic inspired on At War with the short cuts of sharp knives or with the long and atmospheric guitars of “Death’s Cold Embrace” and its cold embrace – no pun intended.
The first surprise of “From Welkin to Tundra” comes with the title track itself that is, actually, a moody intro who prepares the fire for the blasts of “Bring Upon Pain.” The unadvised fan might think we are talking about a modern Black Metal band. When the aforementioned “Bring Upon Pain” comes mistery is solved as Graveripper deliver their unique blend.
It is funny how can a band address to a band that is inspired on the same band. I mean, I mentioned At War here twice with the certainty that At War, themselves, were inspired on Motöhead. But the feeling I have is that, maybe without knowing Graveripper paid a homage to them. So, this is “From Welkin to Tundra” an album whose sonancy might surprise the fan by its similarities, but mostly, for its unique blend.
Graveripper “From Welkin to Tundra” will be released on October 17th via Wise Blood Records.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
