Each time I hear an album as “Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum” and a band like Haeresis I cannot help it thinking how much pain is there on this sad and lonely and pathetic little planet for us to bear. I also just keep wondering how much despair and suffering are there for one to record an album like this. Yeah, “Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum” is about so much pain as one can bear. However, even with all the torture and torment there are moments of a pure beauty just to remind us there is still hope.
“Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum” is Latin for “If you want peace, prepare for war,”– something we hear in frequent basis – therefore I cannot think of a better title for an album with music like this. Well, war is all about pain and misery; torment and torture. The right place to know the real human spirit becasue everything is possible in war. Haeresis did a great job bringing in all those fears and emotions hidden, or not so much, in the human mind with long tracks with more than nine minutes full of plot twists.
The pain begins with album reaper “Echoes of Ashes,” a track that mixes up all the aforementioned pain with some beautiful moments provided by guest vocalists Natalya Androsova and Yaryna Borynets. The song is an unbearble voyage throught the world of agony, or better yet, agony in the form of a song. “I Who Repel All Light” changes a little the tune being faster than hell itself showing that angry is also a valid feeling towards a world that is rapidly turning into a graveyard. “Drifting Beyond Time’s Grasp” keeps the pace and also keeps the spirit of pain and misery and despair the album got. It is faster, but vocals bring that melancholy only Black metal brings the fan. In fact, this track is the perfect view of what a Modern Black Metal song is due to the many moments and atmospheres it grasps. There is still some hidden melody. Grand finale “Eradicate Taciturnity” takes back the road to beautiful moments provided by guest vocalists Natalya Androsova and Yaryna Borynets, however, here the mood is darker with a haunting guitar strumming in the back.
The mix done here in “Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum” is something to praise. Haeresis worked pretty fine with their unique meld of emotion and technique.
Haeresis “Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum” was released on October 10th via Vendetta Records.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
