Today’s Metal music is so far from its roots that I know it’s hard for my dear fan to believe that this album “Hard Blue 2” has everything to do with Metal. In fact, it was bands of the caliber of Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and Led Zeppelin among many others that shaped Metal music. For what it’s worth the Heavy Blues played in the late 1960s by some British bands is the origin of what is called today as Metal though as far as it is from its origins. I know, I know, I’ve told this many times before, but it’s always worth the try as there are brand new readers everyday. In general terms, “Hard Blue 2” is much more the Texas Blues inspired on ZZ Top and, mainly, Steve Ray Vaughn which much more Rock with some traits of Blues. Hard Blue also have both feet on the so-called 1980s Hard Rock which had lotsof Blues influences though this album here has even some more Blues traits. Above all things the album and the band have the correct name giving the fan a correct idea of what to expect from the album.
The fan that is more connected to the roots of Metal music will recognise many bands here with the album. Most importantly, Led Zeppelin and, of course, ZZ Top which is the band that I guess infleunced more the guys of Hard Blue undoubtedly. Maybe, just maybe, it’s possible to link each track of the album with one band, but this an exercise I won’t do. Instrumental “Jelly Jam” has some wondrous bass lines. They are thick, with that great metalic sound, and very well performed. A rare case where the bass overcome the guitars. Bass lines are much more interesting here than the guitars.
This is the album I’m sure won’t please many of may dear fans. However, I know that the few that will like it will do it a lot. “Hard Blue 2” has that intensity with lots of finesse and great bass lines. An album that the fan notices all the care with the songwriting and the production. It seems that the band gets well so easily while playing. As a wise man said ‘the Blues is a good man feeling bad because of a woman.’ Nailed it!

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
