ICE NINE KILLS have come under fire after fans accused them of using artificial intelligence (AI) to promote their Memorial Day merchandise sale. The controversy began when the band posted an Instagram story featuring an illustration of iconic horror characters Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees grilling together, accompanied by a link to their merch shop labeled “Chop Here.”
The image sparked immediate backlash from fans, many of whom believe it was generated using AI. Critics voiced their disappointment on social media, expressing concerns about the growing trend of musicians and artists relying on AI-generated content instead of supporting human creatives.
The story was initially reported by Lambgoat, which emphasized the fan backlash and pointed out that the band has yet to publicly respond to the allegations. At present, the Instagram story showcasing the possibly AI-generated artwork is still up.

In other news, ICE NINE KILLS recently announced the “Hell Of A Summer” tour, which kicks off August 10 at the Vibrant Music Hall in Waukee, Iowa, and wraps up September 13 at their own Silver Scream Con in Worcester, Massachusetts. The tour will feature support from DAYSEEKER, KIM DRACULA, and THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT, with MEST joining the final dates.
