IGOR CAVALERA Says Reunion Of Classic SEPULTURA Lineup ‘Would Be Amazing’

Cavalera Conspiracy

In a new interview with the “Mike Nelson Show,” former SEPULTURA drummer Igor Cavalera discussed the possibility of the classic SEPULTURA lineup reunion.

Igor‘s brother, Max, left the band in 1996 after the rest of the band split with his wife Gloria as their manager. Igor Cavalera stuck around with the group for another 10 years before leaving SEPULTURA and re-teaming with Max in CAVALERA CONSPIRACY.

Igor now said: “I have to be honest with you, man. The reunion, in my opinion, it’s me and my brother — that’s the person that I wanna be united with. So, for me, if the other stuff, it doesn’t happen, I can’t really be too bummed about it. Of course, it would be amazing, but the real reunion for me is just me and my brother being together. That’s what makes me happy.”

In 2020 interview with “Scars And Guitars,” SEPULTURA bassist Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. said that a reunion with former frontman Max Cavalera would have to happen “naturally.”

When asked if he has had any contact with Max in the last 10 years or so, Paulo replied: “Not at all. Zero. [Laughs] We just separated. Each one of us went to [his] own path.”

Addressing the possibility of a reunion with MaxPaulo said: “I don’t know about the future, but right now — I don’t like to force the situation that’s not there anymore. If one day it comes to terms, it has to come naturally.

“So far, that hasn’t happened. But I really don’t bother and think about that too much anymore. That was 20 years ago. And I just keep going. You cannot make everybody happy in this world. The best thing [you can do is] learn from your mistakes and keep walking and try to do better in the future.”
