Very fews bands are capable of sucessfully blending the required aggression of Metal music with the also needed melody. I dare to say Iron Savior with “Reforged – Machine World” have managed their way of doing it as they usually have done for all their long lasting, and sucessful, career. As one of the rising stars of 1990s Metal gangs, the band is one of them that could positively express what 1990s was about; a blend of high-fueled melody of 1980s Old School Heavy Metal plus the scorching speed of Power Metal. “Reforged – Machine World” tells the band’s story being a recollection of the band’s best moments. Better yet, the album delves deeply into the trand of re-recording their classics giving them a new wrapping.
In the 1990s, themewise, Iron Savior were one of the bands, even before the massive trend of scy-fy inspired albums, that introduced the thematic into their songs, a thing that gave them a unique wrapping. In terms of music, the band blended sucessfully the melody of 1980s Old School Heavy Metal with the punch and speed of Power Metal. In fact, that is one of the most defined characteristics of 1990s Metal and Iron Savior are one of the bands that best represents it. The choice of Judas Priest’s “Starbreaker” to be covered showcases pretty well the band’s musical spirit. Regarding to the albums, 2001s “Battering Ram” had five songs against four of 2004s “Dark Assault.”
Each time a band re-record its songs, as times go by, something will definitely change due to many facts. One of them, and the most important the way I see it, is the recording techniques that are always changing. Plus the band also changes through time. The musicians get more experienced, and as a result, they play differently for the better or for the worst. Personally, I do not like re-recordings because as a conservative fan I like the old songs mood better. I get used to the old sonancies and the new ones strange me, as a matter of fact. The old sonancies stick to my mind and it is difficult to accept the new ones even if they sound technically better. So, “Reforged – Machine World” is not the album for the nostalgic fan that is used to the band’s old sonancy. It is an album to the fans with an open mind to the band’s changes. I guess the name Reforged expresses very well the band’s intent.

I’m just a lucky guy who has chosen metal to live with for a long time. Metal changed my life for good. It made me more confident and stronger. Metalheads are naturally far away from the mass mediocrity and don’t accept impostures from anybody else. Metal is more than music, it’s a life changing oportunity!
