Is SUM 41’S DERYCK WHIBLEY The New LINKIN PARK Singer? Fans Think So

Mike Shinoda Deryck Whibley

LINKIN PARK fueled fan excitement last Saturday by posting a countdown timer on their social media. This mysterious clock, also visible on their website, is set to expire on Wednesday, August 28th. Fans immediately speculated that this countdown could signal a new vocalist announcement or even a reunion tour.

Rumors have been swirling for months that the band has been searching for a replacement for their late lead singer, Chester Bennington.

According to a report by Billboard this past April, booking agency WME has been fielding offers for a potential 2025 reunion tour, which may include performances at various festivals. Sources suggest that members such as Mike ShinodaBrad Delson, and Dave Farrell are involved in planning this venture.

The anticipation reached a fever pitch on Monday when SUM 41 urged fans to tune in on Wednesday morning for a “Deryck Whibley announcement.” With both events happening on the same day, many fans believe that Whibley might be the chosen vocalist for LINKIN PARK.

While there’s no official confirmation yet, Whibley‘s potential role seems plausible. SUM 41 announced their disbandment last year, and Whibley has previously filled in for Chester Bennington at a tribute concert in 2017.
