Jack Osbourne has reflected on the death of his father, legendary Ozzy Osbourne, saying the iconic frontman appeared to be at peace with the end of his journey in the weeks before he passed away.

Speaking during an appearance on the Hate To Break It To Ya podcast, hosted by actor and comedian Jamie Kennedy, Jack was asked if it came as a surprise when Ozzy died shortly after performing his final concert with BLACK SABBATH in July 2025.

Jack said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth): “Yeah, it was a surprise, for sure. Obviously everyone knew he was sick… But, yeah, we weren’t expecting it to be as quick as it was.”

He went on to share a personal moment from the last time he saw his father in England following the “Back To The Beginning” concert.

Jack continued: “I think he was done. ‘Cause I’d left England to come home after the show. We went to the ‘Back To The Beginning’ gig with the family, and we all hung around England for a few weeks, and had to come back with the kids. And right before I left, I was putting him to bed, and he was, like, brushing his teeth or whatever, and he was looking at himself in the mirror, and he goes, ‘I think I’m gonna cut my hair off.’ I’m, like, ‘Why?’ And he’s, like, ‘I’ve retired. I’m not a rock star anymore.’ And so I think about that, and I’m, like, yeah, he was done. He was okay with his journey.”

During the same conversation, Jack also revealed that the day Ozzy passed away felt unexpectedly normal.

“It was a few days after I got back that he passed, and we were… Even the morning that he passed, it was like, it wasn’t anything dramatic at all,” Jack said. “He was up, he was doing his thing, had some breakfast, and that was it.”

Ozzy died on July 22, 2025 at the age of 76. His death certificate later revealed that he passed away from a heart attack, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease listed as contributing conditions.

A private funeral service for the legendary singer was held on July 31, 2025 on the 250-acre grounds of the Buckinghamshire, England estate that Ozzy and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, purchased in 1993.

Only 110 close friends and family members attended the ceremony, including Ozzy’s BLACK SABBATH bandmates as well as several notable figures from the rock and metal world such as Robert Trujillo, Rob Zombie, Zakk Wylde, Marilyn Manson and Corey Taylor.
