Jason Momoa, best known as “Aquaman” and the host of BLACK SABBATH’s epic “Back To The Beginning” farewell concert, proved he’s more than just a fan — he’s a full-on metalhead. During PANTERA’s crushing performance of “Cowboys From Hell” at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5, Momoa jumped straight into the mosh pit, much to the delight of fans nearby.
The Hollywood star didn’t just appear on stage for hosting duties — he lived the experience. Fan-shot footage captured Momoa diving into the pit, headbanging and moshing along with thousands of ecstatic metal fans during one of the night’s most intense performances.
In an interview with Kerrang! ahead of the event, Momoa revealed just how much the show meant to him — and how his role came about.
“I’m over here begging for a ticket and now they want me to host it!” Momoa laughed. “I’ve never hosted anything before but I’ve gotta go out in front of all these f****** people and host! And now it’s on pay-per-view. Jesus Christ…”
He added: “Ozzy is everything to me. SABBATH is every-f******-thing, man. I remember the first song, I remember playing SABBATH to my kids the first time. I love everything about that band. They’re real, man, and I’m just going to be around everyone that I grew up loving.”
Momoa originally reached out to friends in METALLICA and ANTHRAX to try to score a ticket before he got the call from Sharon Osbourne herself, inviting him to host the event.
