Legendary vocalist John Bush stepped into uncharted territory on Saturday, December 13, performing his first-ever solo concert—a special show dedicated to the music he created during his iconic tenure with ANTHRAX. The intimate event took place at the famed Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California, giving fans a unique chance to experience Bush front and center.
For this milestone performance, Bush was joined by his CATEGORY 7 bandmates Phil Demmel and Mike Orlando on guitars and Jason Bittner on drums. Filling in on bass was Joey Vera, longtime friend and collaborator from ARMORED SAINT, stepping in for Jack Gibson, who couldn’t make the show due to scheduling conflicts. CATEGORY 7 opened the night with their own material before returning to support Bush during his ANTHRAX-focused set.
Bush’s setlist spanned the four ANTHRAX albums he recorded with the band: Sound of White Noise, Stomp 442, Volume 8: The Threat Is Real, and We’ve Come For You All. Fans were treated not only to classic anthems but also to deeper cuts that haven’t been heard live in years, showcasing the breadth of his contribution to the band.
The full setlist was as follows:
- Potters Field
- Random Acts Of Senseless Violence
- Refuse To Be Denied
- Inside Out
- Cadillac Rock Box
