British heavy metal icons JUDAS PRIEST have unveiled a newly updated version of their cover of BLACK SABBATH’s classic “War Pigs,” now featuring posthumously released vocals from the late Ozzy Osbourne.
PRIEST had originally issued their take on “War Pigs” on July 2nd, shortly before Osbourne’s passing on July 22nd. The track was initially released in tribute, as the band were unable to appear at BLACK SABBATH’s July 5th “Back To The Beginning” farewell concert due to prior commitments touring with THE SCORPIONS.
All proceeds from the cover’s UK release will be donated to two Parkinson’s-related charities. One is The Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation, created by PRIEST’s guitarist after stepping back from live performances in 2018 following his own diagnosis. The other is Cure Parkinson’s, a charity Osbourne himself supported, and which also received proceeds from the “Back To The Beginning” show.
Just hours after Ozzy’s death was announced on July 22, JUDAS PRIEST shared the following statement on social media: “Our hearts are broken like millions around the world. Words can’t express the love and loss we are all feeling.
“Sharon, may God surround you and your beautiful family with love, peace and light.
“Ozzy, you will never leave us — your music is eternal. God blesses you now more than ever after you blessed us all through your magnificent life.
“Rob, Glenn, Ian, Richie & Scott“.
