Kelly Osbourne is setting the record straight after renewed speculation surrounding her parents’ long-discussed “suicide pact” made headlines once again. The 40-year-old TV personality and singer took to Instagram on Friday, July 11, to vent her frustration at recent media reports, particularly those claiming that her father, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, is on the brink of death.
“Stop making articles or posts about how you think my parents are having a suicide pact,” Kelly wrote in a fiery Instagram Story, People magazine reports.. “That was bulls**t my mom said to get attention one time. And my dad’s not dying. Stop!”
The backlash comes in response to resurfaced comments made by Sharon Osbourne during a 2023 episode of The Osbournes podcast, where she mentioned that assisted suicide was “still a plan” for her and Ozzy if either of them were to suffer from a debilitating, terminal illness. That remark echoed a sentiment the couple had expressed as far back as 2007, when Sharon revealed in her autobiography that she and Ozzy had made arrangements to seek assisted death in Switzerland, should one of them fall victim to conditions like Alzheimer’s.
In the podcast, Sharon discussed the reasoning behind the decision, pointing to the suffering her father, Don Arden, endured due to Alzheimer’s. “If you’ve got mental and physical [pain], see ya,” she said. Ozzy himself expanded on the subject in a 2014 interview, stating he would not want to live if he lost basic functions or became completely dependent on medical machines.
Despite those past statements, Kelly made it clear that the current media spin is taking things too far — and distorting the context. She also criticized those spreading false claims about her father’s health, making it known that the Prince of Darkness is not, in fact, dying.
“I don’t know what side of the bed I woke up on today,” Kelly raged, “but I woke up on a f**king I’m gonna f**k you up and fight you day.”
