KERRY KING Pays Tribute To OZZY OSBOURNE With Cover Of BLACK SABBATH’s ‘Wicked World’

Kerry King Wicked World

SLAYER guitarist Kerry King paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne during his solo band’s recent European shows. Just a week after the passing of the iconic BLACK SABBATH frontman, King and his band performed a cover of SABBATH’s “Wicked World” at back-to-back concerts in Frankfurt, Germany (July 29) and Vienna, Austria (July 30).

Joining King onstage were vocalist Mark Osegueda (DEATH ANGEL), guitarist Phil Demmel (ex-MACHINE HEAD, ex-VIO-LENCE), bassist Kyle Sanders (HELLYEAH), and drummer Paul Bostaph (SLAYER, TESTAMENT, EXODUS). Together, they delivered a fierce rendition of the Black Sabbath debut album track, giving fans a heartfelt tribute to one of metal’s most enduring voices.

The BLACK SABBATH tribute follows a separate performance earlier this month in which King played the same song — but with SLAYER. On July 5, during SABBATH’s “Back To The Beginning” charity event, SLAYER reunited for a special six-song set that included “Wicked World.” The thrash legends opened with “Disciple” and “War Ensemble,” tore through the SABBATH deep cut, and closed with a barrage of classics: “South Of Heaven,” “Raining Blood,” and “Angel Of Death.”

Ozzy Osbourne passed away on Tuesday, July 22, at his Buckinghamshire estate, surrounded by family. Though an official cause of death has not been released, the 76-year-old metal legend had long battled Parkinson’s disease, which he publicly revealed in 2020. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, reportedly fought for two hours to save him that morning.
