KING DIAMOND has been forced to cancel two shows on his ongoing European tour due to a case of strep throat. The canceled dates include July 5th at Rockmaraton Festival in Dunaújváros, Hungary, and July 6th at Arena Open Air in Vienna, Austria.
The announcement came as a disappointment to fans eagerly awaiting the rare opportunity to see the Danish shock-metal icon perform live. KING DIAMOND’s current European run marks his first string of shows on the continent since 2019, and the cancellation has sparked concern — though his team assures fans that the frontman is expected to recover swiftly.
Despite the health setback, the tour is slated to resume on July 8th in Bucharest, Romania, at Arenale Romane, followed by stops in Sofia and Athens before heading to Norway and Finland in late July and early August.

In more positive news, KING DIAMOND fans can look forward to new music on the horizon. Guitarist Andy La Rocque recently provided an encouraging update on the band’s long-gestating horror-themed concept album, Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920 — the first part of a planned trilogy.
According to La Rocque, the band began recording before their last U.S. tour and will resume work after the European leg concludes. He described a highly collaborative and modular recording process involving remote contributions from each band member, highlighting just how much attention to detail goes into crafting each track.
