Kryptos – Afterburner

Hell, yeah! Speed Metal hell is totally back!

I have to confess that this sonance is so familiar to me because I grew up in the 1980s and there were many bands that I liked that played that way. When I think of Metal, this is the sonance that comes to my mind undoubtedly. Kryptos “Afterburner” rang a bell into my mind and this is a great feeling. Well, it’s not the first time that I get emotional with a band, and this is great too because it means I’m alive.

It’s not that I don’t like new stuff. In fact, I love them as you, my child of the night, that follow my poor writings may have noticed. It’s just that this music reminds me my teens when I discovered Metal, one of the best discoveries I made – the other was women, but they were first than Metal. Tracks as “Afterburner” and “Dead of Night” wake up the dead emotions inside of me lighting up my heart. Cheesy? Sure, it is! But I don’t really care. When you get a certain age, you allow yourself to get cheesy and emotional. Not always on this order.

“Afterburner” is an album that keeps ther faith of the great German Metal bands from the 1980s as Accept and Tyrant with some generous touches of Judas Priest – who doesn’t?. It is an album with power and rage that doses generous pieces of genuine Metal emotion. You know what I mean. Guitars are melodious when necessary, they attack and growl when necessary, and they make you cry. Vocals are harsh as Udo’s when the dose of emotion that only he knows how to. If you don’t believe me, listen to “Red Dawn” and its final one minute with the bridge that leads to the guitar solo. Keep your eyes dry if you can. Big, but big, song. The main riff and its wall of sound is a killer as well. The effect really gets into your head.

Kryptos take a big step with “Afterburner.” It’s a message that faith, passion, and honor are more important than the big money. It would be easier to get a synthesizer, or whatever they are using these days, and make some music (?) that guarantees you the money. But would it be worth it? Would you pass your last days thinking on the dream you left? I guess I would. Better follow the dream and passion.

Kryptos “Afterburner” was released on June 21st via AFM Records.
