LINKIN PARK took center stage at the Champions League Final this past weekend, delivering a high-energy set that included hits like “The Emptiness Machine,” “In The End,” “Numb,” and “Heavy Is The Crown.” The band’s pre-match concert, staged before Paris Saint-Germain’s victory over Inter Milan, was met with mixed reactions.
While fans at the stadium and online responded enthusiastically, praising the band’s performance as a highlight of the night, Dutch football legend Marco van Basten was far from impressed. During the live broadcast, van Basten didn’t mince words. “The LINKIN PARK performance was garbage, absolutely garbage. It’s a disgrace that UEFA allows this,” he declared.
Though his comments targeted LINKIN PARK by name, many believe van Basten’s frustration was aimed more at UEFA’s broader decision to feature a pre-match concert than at the band’s musicianship. Still, his blunt assessment sparked debate, especially given the overwhelmingly positive response from fans.
LINKIN PARK’s appearance at the Champions League Final was a major stop on their ongoing world tour, which is set to continue through November.
