BLACK LABEL SOCIETY have officially unveiled their twelfth studio album, Engines Of Demolition, out now via MNRK Heavy. Closing out the record is one of its most emotional moments — a heartfelt tribute titled “Ozzy’s Song,” written by frontman Zakk Wylde in honor of his late mentor and longtime collaborator, Ozzy Osbourne.
The track stands apart as a deeply personal farewell, with Wylde channeling both grief and gratitude into its lyrics. While the music itself had already been composed, the song didn’t fully take shape until after Osbourne’s passing — a moment that clearly left a lasting mark on the guitarist.
In a previous interview with Guitar World, Wylde opened up about how the song came together, revealing that the lyrics were written in the quiet aftermath of Ozzy’s funeral: “I wrote the music before Oz passed away. But after Oz passed away, when we went back to England and we laid Ozzy to rest, when I got right from that, I went straight to PANTERA celebrations with Phil [Anselmo], Rex [Brown], and Charlie [Benante]. So I hooked back up with the fellas, and we were back rolling. And then when I got done, when we got done with the Pantera celebration run, when I got home, I was just sitting in the house and [this] is when I wrote the lyrics and just sang the song. I was just thinking about Oz, and then I just wrote the lyrics.”
