Thrash metal titans MEGADETH have officially dropped their brand-new single, “Tipping Point,” marking the first taste of the band’s upcoming and final studio album. The official music video for the track will premiere later today, alongside more details about the record.
While fans can now stream “Tipping Point” worldwide, the biggest news is still on the way. MEGADETH have confirmed that the full unveiling of their farewell album will take place later today, officially beginning the last chapter of the band’s career.
Some information, however, has already surfaced. Earlier this week, Rough Trade Records briefly posted a product page revealing that the record will be self-titled — Megadeth — and scheduled for release on January 22nd or 23rd, 2026. The listing also teased exclusive CD and vinyl editions before it was quickly removed, since pre-orders were not meant to go live until now. Despite the takedown, cached results on Google left traces of the accidental leak.
Back in August, Dave Mustaine announced that the new record would be MEGADETH’s final studio effort, with the band preparing to launch a global farewell tour in 2026.
