From time to time Metal Music world is shaken by the discover of lost treasures. This time of Black Sabbath’s Dio-era “Slapback,” a song that was originally recorded to be part of 1980’s “Heaven and Hell,” but was cut off of the final record.

The song was uploaded days ago by Gary Rees – the stepson and executor of the estate of former Black Sabbath keyboardist Geoff Nicholls, who passed away in 2017. The matter of authenticity was risen by Eddie Trunk on his SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk and he asked Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler – during the latter’s appearance on his radio show who onfirmed the provenance of the recording, saying “Yeah, that was one of the songs that we did before I left.” And he made a joke “It’s probably the reason I did leave. It was just one of those songs that didn’t make the grade.”
